Candle Burning Safety
At Midwest Grace, our commitment to candle safety starts with the ingredients we use.
We carefully select each component to ensure that our products are both safe and effective.
All of our jar candles, tealight candles, and wax melts are hand poured in small batches to ensure consistency and quality.
Candles are meant to be enjoyed, but it is important that you follow some common-sense safety rules when burning them.
These rules will help you achieve the best burn possible with your candles, too!
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep. We recommend burning for a maximum of 4 hours each time you enjoy your candle.
-
Follow the 2-foot rule. Don't place a burning candle within 2 feet of clothing, books, curtains, or other flammable objects.
-
Keep lit candles away from drafts, ceiling fans, and any air currents. This keeps the flame burning steadily in the center of the candle.
-
Trim the wick to ¼” before every burn. This helps prevent the flame from getting too large, and also cuts down on any excess soot or black smoke.
-
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
-
Extinguish a candle if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container.
-
When burning multiple candles at once, always place them at least 3 inches apart from each other.
-
A burning candle should never be used as a nightlight. Always extinguish any lit candles before going to sleep.
-
A candle should not be burned for more than four hours at a time, exceeding this could cause safety issues.
